Identify & Treat the Adults with ADHD Already in Your Caseload
ADHD is one of the most common psychiatric diagnoses and is over-represented in therapists’ caseloads, yet can be easy to miss behind other comorbidities, especially in adults. Fortunately, diagnosing ADHD accurately and treating it effectively will likely benefit the comorbities that often accompany ADHD.
This strategy-loaded presentation will prepare you to identify those adults with ADHD who are already in your caseload and treat them effectively, based on a more useful conceptual model for understanding ADHD struggles and strategies. This enables clinicians to address not only the specific executive function deficits that impact every aspect of daily functioning, but also the many ways that it can shape an individual’s approach to the world. We will discuss how to help clients think through the decision to try medication and how to facilitate their appointments with a prescriber. Finally, we will discuss how to help adults with ADHD approach challenges more effectively and with a more resilient mindset.
