Living Well with Social Anxiety
Many people experience social anxiety as it’s a common problem and can be very persistent. Effective treatments for social anxiety exist and typically include group or individual cognitive behavior therapy, however, they may not be as effective as the client hopes or may not be long-lasting. Or the help may not be readily available. Living well with social anxiety requires a person to understand themselves and learn the connections between their feelings, thoughts and actions as well as take charge of their lives. True lasting change involves taking ownership and becoming confident with day-to-day strategies. It’s easy to revert to old habits, particularly avoidant patterns of behavior. Helping clients learn practical and engaging tools that they can use everyday builds confidence and self-efficacy and helps reduce avoidance. The new book Living Well with Social Anxiety: Practical Strategies for Improving Your Daily Life is based upon all of these ideas.
